Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 October 2026
This policy explains what information RYDO collects across the Rider, Driver and Hub apps, why it's collected, and how it's used and protected.
1. Information you provide
When you create an account, RYDO collects your email address, your phone number, your name, a profile photo, and your role (rider or partner). You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email, or with your Google, Apple or Facebook account, which gives RYDO the email address on that account. Your phone number is used so your driver or biker can call you at pickup (and so you can call them), and for safety and support. Partners additionally provide KYC information, identity documents, vehicle documents and licences, as part of verification. If you add a bank account for payouts, or a card for payments, that information is collected to enable payments.
1B. Delivery tracking links, delivery photos and tours
When you send a package, you can share a private tracking link with the recipient. Anyone who has the link can see the delivery's progress, the biker's first name and photo, the biker's live position while the package is on its way, and the recipient's delivery PIN, until the delivery ends. Share it only with the person receiving the package. At drop-off the biker takes a photo of the package at the door as proof of delivery; it is stored with the delivery and shown to the sender and the recipient. If you book a tour, RYDO keeps your name, phone number, group size, pickup place and the booking details so we can arrange your vehicle and driver.
1A. Emergency contacts
If you add emergency contacts (a name, a phone number and, optionally, an email address), RYDO stores them so you can reach them quickly. If you trigger an SOS during a trip, RYDO may email the contacts you chose, with your trip details and live location link, so they can help you. RYDO does not contact them at any other time.
2. Location information
RYDO collects your location while you're using the app to match you with nearby partners, calculate fares and routes, and provide live trip and delivery tracking. Drivers and dispatch bikers are tracked while online and during active trips or deliveries, so riders and senders can follow progress in real time.
3. Trip and delivery information
RYDO keeps a record of your trips and deliveries, pickup and destination, fare, payment method, and status, to provide the service, support disputes, and maintain accurate history in your account.
4. Ratings, reviews and communication
Ratings and reviews left after a trip or delivery are stored and shown, in aggregate, on the relevant account. In-app messages sent between riders and partners during an active trip or delivery are stored to support the service and resolve disputes.
5. Payment information
RYDO uses Paystack to process card payments and driver payouts. Card details are handled directly by Paystack under its own security standards, RYDO does not store your full card number. RYDO stores a reference token used to charge your saved card for future trips, and the bank account details partners provide for payout.
6. Notifications
If you enable push notifications, RYDO stores a device subscription used to send trip, delivery and account updates. You can disable notifications at any time from your device or account settings.
7. How information is used
Information collected is used to operate and improve RYDO: matching, pricing, safety, support, fraud prevention, and communicating with you about your account, trips and deliveries. RYDO does not sell personal information to third parties.
8. Who can see what
During an active trip or delivery, a partner sees the information needed to complete it: your name, profile photo, phone number (so they can call you), pickup/destination and, where relevant, your live location. Riders likewise see the partner's name, photo, vehicle and phone number. Phone numbers are shown only for the duration of the trip or delivery. Ratings and reviews are designed so partners and riders can't see the specific written content the other side submitted about them, to prevent retaliation.
9. Data retention
RYDO retains account, trip and delivery information for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal, safety and accounting obligations. You can delete your account yourself in the Rider or Driver app (Account, then Delete account). Deleting removes your name, email, phone number and photo from RYDO. Records RYDO must keep for legal, safety and accounting reasons, such as completed trips and payments, are kept without your personal details.
10. Your choices
You can update your account information, manage location and notification permissions from your device settings, delete your account in the app, and request a copy of your data through RYDO Support. Your rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 apply to the personal information described here.
11. Changes to this policy
RYDO may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
